College of Nursing, VA renew contract

The Ralph H. Johnson Veteran's Administration Hospital recently renewed its commitment to the South Carolina Nursing Collaborative.

This collaborative is a group of academic and clinical organizations throughout the state that with the MUSC College of Nursing leadership is dedicated to increasing the number of baccalaureate, masters and doctorally prepared nurses in South Carolina, while positively impacting the clinical care-giving environments.

The VA agreed to support the College of Nursing and this collaborative with an investment of one full-time employee (FTE) for an additional three years. This faculty position will be divided among bachelors prepared nurses from the VA staff, who then serve as clinical preceptors for College of Nursing students.

The South Carolina Nursing Collaborative provided the resources for MUSC’s College of Nursing to double its bachelor's of science in nursing degree enrollment and take key nursing programs online.
