MUSC Safety Walk to be held March 9Would you like an extra emergency call box in your parking lot? Are you tired of drivers ignoring pedestrian right of way laws when you try to cross the street? If so, join MUSC’s Student Government Association, Office of Parking Management, and Public Safety in the horseshoe at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 for a Safety Walk. At that time, students, faculty, and staff, together with parking management staff and any available public safety officers, will divide into six groups to tour the campus and surrounding areas, including parking lots, in an effort to identify locations where safety can be improved. During the tours, participants will critically observe the area and offer suggestions for methods of improving safety and security, such as additional call boxes, brighter lighting, and pedestrian crosswalk count-down lights. SGA, Parking Management, and Public Safety will be in the horseshoe and the hospital from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 8 to publicize the Safety Walk. Stop by then to meet the volunteers; sign up for the Safety Walk; pick up a free mini-flashlight and campus map; and get your questions answered; brochures containing information on personal safety and identity theft will also be available. The goal of the Safety Walk is to get suggestions about improving campus
safety from as many people as possible, so drop by the table in the horseshoe
or hospital to sign up. E-mail any Safety Walk-related questions or suggestions
to sga@musc.edu with the subject
