Where you were born: Calicut, India.

Family: Husband, Kesh Hebbar, who is in Family Medicine, and 13-year-old daughter, Preetha.

Favorite reading: National Geographic, auto/biographies of international leaders, fiction ­Indo-American authors.

Favorite music: Musicals, Indian and Western classical.

Favorite Web site: http://www.m-w.com. I love to expand my vocabulary and do word games.

Least favorite chore: Ironing.

Ingredient you must have in your refrigerator: Ginger and garlic.

Fondest childhood memory: Summers at my grandparents village home in India.

Bad habit: Expecting perfection from others.

Biggest challenge: Trying to be the perfect mom.

Memorable trip: Holiday with my husband island hopping the Inner Hebrides off the coast of Scotland.
