Palmetto Gold nurses recognized at gala

On April 9 nurses from MUHA and from the MUSC College of Nursing were recognized at the Palmetto Gold Gala, South Carolina’s premier nurse recognition program of the top 100 nurses in the state.

Each year employers from across the state nominate outstanding nurses from their organizations to become one of the 100 nurses to be recognized for this award.

During the formal gala nurses Barbara Burke, Priscilla Cooper, June Darby, Elizabeth Erkel, Ph.D., Jan Grossman, Ph.D., Carolyn Jenkins,DrPH, Yvonne Martin, Sonja Muckenfuss, Gail Stuart, Ph.D, and Deborah Williamson, DHA, were saluted for their excellence in nursing practice and commitment to the profession.

In addition to providing recognition to deserving professionals, proceeds from the gala are used to provide nursing scholarships for students attending South Carolina education programs.

This year, 22 students received scholarships as a result of contributions to the Palmetto Gold Nurse Recognition Program.
