MUSC Health & Wellness Expo8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19Harper Student Center The 2006 MUSC Health and Wellness Expo will be held Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Harper Student Center. The expo is free and open to MUSC employees, affiliates and the community. The purpose of the expo is to promote health and wellness. This event will showcase MUSC services as well as offer several screenings. There is no charge for screenings except for cholesterol: a $15 fee will be collected. Employees who prefer to make an appointment must call Holly Maben in Human Resources at 792-4674—walk-ins are welcome, fasting is recommended. Mammograms will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan 18 and 19 (physician referral and insurance required). To make an appointment or for information, call 810-5075. Free food and product samplings will be offered from local vendors. All proceeds from this event will benefit MUSC Employee Health and Wellness programs. New for this year will be a seminar presented at 11 a.m. Jan. 19 by renowned wellness advocate Ann Kulze, M.D. Her seminar is entitled “Feel Great for Good, Stay Well for Life.” Schedule of special events and free seminars: 9 a.m., Auditorium: Don Sparks, alternative transportation advocate—Charleston Moves!; 1 p.m., Auditorium: Nelda Fields—Webster Rogers: Financial Wellness Seminar; 3 p.m., Auditorium: Dr. Carl David Geier: Sports Injury Seminar. Free workouts/demonstration: 10 a.m., Court #1: Fencing (information/demo/clinic); Noon, Crows Nest: Yoga (wear comfortable clothing); 2 p.m., Aerobics Studio: Tae-Bo (be ready for an uptempo workout); and 4 p.m., Cardio Room: Group cycling or trekking or indoor track workout.
