How
long at MUSC: Almost 2 and
a half years.
What did you want to be when you were
little: I wanted to work with my dad, who was a carpenter and
contractor.
What was your first job: Cleaning
stalls in exchange for boarding my horse.
How did you become interested in
nursing: I was a lab technician for 16 years and it was time to
progress. I am comfortable working in a hospital, and I love nursing. I
am also a certified Spanish interpreter.
What is the most rewarding aspect of
your job: The words of thanks from my patients and their
families.
Favorite room in your house: Living
room on a cold rainy day with the TV on and me half asleep.
Least favorite chore: Weeding
my garden.
Bad habit: Leaving books and
papers next to the bed or sofa.
Pet peeve: Cruelty to
animals—they’re defenseless.
Person you admire the most: My
dad. He came to this country, couldn’t speak, read or write English. He
joined the military to earn his citizenship and became a prominent
businessman who built custom homes.
