Take time to know surroundings,
secure personal items at work
Employees
need to remain aware of their surroundings and the people
around them all year long, but especially during the holiday season.
If an unfamiliar individual is in your area and they do not have an
MUSC badge, Public Safety or Hospital Security should be notified
immediately.
In addition, lock personal belongings, such as purses, presents,
checkbooks, keys, etc., away in a secure location. Sales people are not
allowed to go door- to-door to sell gifts to employees; if this
occurs, report this activity immediately.
On MUSC’s Public Safety Department's Web site, http://www.musc.edu/publicsafety/,
employees can learn more about programs offered by Public Safety as
well as services they provide. Educational programs such as Rape
Aggression Defense, Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization
Exchange and Whistleblower’s Defense are designed to educate employees
and provide them with the tools to more adequately protect themselves
and to feel more comfortable and safe in their surroundings.
In addition to these training courses, Public Safety continues to offer
escort service to any employee, student/trainee or other individual on
campus to their vehicles. For information, call Public Safety at
792-2261. Emergency calls should be sent to 792-4196.
