Pediatrician presents at Medicaid
conference
MUSC pediatrician Lewis Gregory, M.D., recently presented during the
Medicaid Health Plans of America Annual Conference, held in October in
Las Vegas.
Gregory, who also serves as chief medical officer for Select Health of
South Carolina, a voluntary Medicaid health insurer, presented
information on the company's recent experience in pharmacy management.
Gregory's presentation included the importance of developing
partnerships that can make prescription drugs more accessible to
everyone. “Some of my pediatric patients are on Medicaid. So being able
to get a prescription filled shouldn't be like a game of win, lose or
draw,” said Gregory. “My position as CMO at Select Health has allowed
me to be hands-on in making prescription drugs more accessible to our
members. It's been a challenge, but Select Health has been able to
expand its pharmacy program, and now children on the First Choice
health plan can get unlimited prescriptions per month.”
Gregory went on to say that he's fortunate to be a part of two dynamic
organizations—MUSC and Select Health. “Whether I'm tending to a patient
or at a board meeting, my role as pediatrician and CMO allows me to
keep my focus on what really matters—preventive health and an
unwavering support system.”
Select Health has been serving families in South Carolina for more than
a decade. As the state's largest voluntary provider of Medicaid medical
homes, the Select Health insurance plan, First Choice, serves more than
75,000 members in 36 South Carolina counties. Select Health is a
wholly-owned subsidiary of AmeriHealth Mercy. To learn more about
