MU hosts community peds dental project
The South Carolina Dental Association, in cooperation with dental
education departments of MUSC, the technical colleges of South Carolina
and Palmetto Health, sponsored Give Kids A Smile Day Feb. 3 across
South Carolina.

The service provided free needed dental care to eligible children
between the ages of 6 and 16 and included cleanings, fillings,
sealants, and extractions.

MUSC dental faculty members, residents and dental students joined
community dentists as well as dental assistant and dental hygiene
faculty and students from Trident Technical College to provide care for
the children in the Lowcountry.
“We appreciate the cooperation of all volunteers,” said Cindy Hipp,
DMD, an MUSC dental faculty member who coordinated the MUSC clinic.
“The goal of the project is to reduce dental disease in South
Carolina.”
