PLS awarded Chapter of the Year
On March 18 the Beta Chi Chapter of the Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS)
Leadership Society at the South Carolina College of Pharmacy, MUSC
campus, was awarded Chapter of the Year during its annual meeting held
in conjunction with the American Pharmacists Association Annual Meeting
in San Francisco.
This is the first time this award has been presented and is a national
recognition with 79 PLS chapters at schools and colleges of pharmacy
across the country. The award winner is chosen based on information
submitted in their annual chapter report.
The mission of PLS is to support pharmacy leadership commitment by
recognizing leaders and fostering leadership development. The MUSC
chapter was recognized for advancing the mission of the society through
leadership programs and the leadership activities of their members.
The chapter holds a monthly Leadership Seminar Series each fall and a
full-day Leadership Conference each January that is open to all MUSC
students, residents, faculty members, staff, and employees. The chapter
has also partnered with the MUSC Student Government Association to plan
and implement an interdisciplinary clinical skills competition that
will be held during the 2006-2007 academic year.
Many of the Beta Chi Chapter members hold national leadership positions
in the pharmacy professio. Cathy Worrall, Pharm.D., clinical associate
