MUSC program assists employees in
crisis
When
people experience stress in their lives, which happens to everyone
at some point, the stress can affect work and relationships at work.
Unattended, these external and internal stressors can erode on-the-job
performance and result in unintended outcomes.
The MUSC Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential counseling
service for all university, authority and UMA employees and their
families. The service provides assistance with personal, family or
work-related problems. Most clients are self-referred for personal
issues such as stress, relationship issues, divorce, couples
counseling, drug and alcohol problems, depression, anxiety and grief.
The EPA program also takes supervisory referrals for help with issues
that can impact work performance and lead to absenteeism, tardiness,
poor moral, mistakes and injuries.
All MUSC EAP records are kept in house and adhere to the strictest
standards of confidentiality.
Participants will receive a professional assessment by a master’s level
counselor. The counselor will work with the client to develop a working
plan aimed at achieving the established goal. This plan may include
homework, returning to EAP for a few more sessions, or a referral to an
outside treatment provider for long term therapy. Counseling at MUSC
EAP is provided through employees’ benefits package and is free. People
who are referred to an outside treatment provider may be responsible
for the bill. However, the MUSC EAP counselor will make every effort to
find an outside treatment provider who accepts the employee’s insurance.

booth located in the Children’s Hospital lobby from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
