At the May 12 Nurses’ Week awards ceremony, Hannah Weiner, R.N., 8West,
was named the 2006 MUSC Nurse of the Year.
Registered nurse
Hannah Weiner, 8West, was named the MUSC Nurse of the Year. She will
receive one year's use of luxury vehicles from Luxury Cars of
Charleston.
“I was totally shocked, I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I’ll be
honest and say that I haven’t been at MUSC very long and didn’t know
about the Nurse of the Year [award]. It is a huge, incredible honor and
I want everyone to know that this award is really representative of the
floor where I work. I wouldn’t have gotten it without being part of
such a great team.”
In addition to the Nurse of the Year title, Weiner also received one
year’s use of luxury vehicles from Luxury Cars of Charleston at 1739
Savannah Highway in West Ashley. Because the cars must stay in a sales
rotation, Weiner will have to occasionally trade in her current luxury
car for another, making it a BMW one month, and then maybe a Mercedes
the next. And what better to go with a beautiful car than a reserved
place to park it? Weiner was also designated her own parking spot on
campus, in addition to other goodies and prizes. “I feel so privileged
to work where I do and win an award for doing something that I love to
do,” she said.
Mitch Rubenstein, owner of Luxury Cars of Charleston, said, “My wife is
a nurse and I know how critical they are to health care and they often
don’t get the credit that they deserve. This was a way that we at
Luxury Cars of Charleston could give credit where credit is due.”
As Weiner eased into the front seat of a silver, convertible BMW, she
sighed and flashed a bright smile, “A year of driving cars like this
and I’ll become a car snob. I don’t think my Honda’s ever going to be
the same.”
