University women's club sponsors Todd
Carter Teddy Bear Day
The
Medical University Women’s Club sponsored the fifth annual Todd
Carter Teddy Bear Day recently in the Medical University Medical
Center.
“We tried to give out a teddy bear, or stuffed animal to every patient
as a way of cheering our adults while they are in the hospital.” said
Lynda Selby, immediate past president of the club.
In 2001 Todd Carter, a Wando High School football player was killed in
an automobile. He was the son of MUSC’s James (M.D.) and Debbie Carter.
“We collect stuffed animals all year long from our members and we
cannot believe what a boost they make among our heart, transplant,
rehab,
medical, oncology and women’s units,” said Jane Locke, 2006-07 club
president. “It gives our members something to look forward to and it
really cheers up the patients.”
