Free summer brown bag training
sessions to begin
The
MUSC Human Resource Management Training Department announces the
2006 Brown Bag Lunch Series. The Brown Bag Lunch seminars are free
one-hour informational sessions on a variety of topics. All seminars
are held noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays in Room 107 of the Education
Center/Library Building. Bring your lunch. All seminars are free and
registration is not required.

12—Energy Conservation Workshop
The Sustainability Institute presents a 45-minute workshop on how to
conserve energy in homes. Participants will learn low cost ways to
reduce energy use: how to weatherize and air-seal a home; techniques to
reduce energy use of appliances; heating, cooling and lighting
strategies; and how to conserve water. Participants are asked to
bring a copy of their most recent utility bills so that we can track
energy costs saved.

19—Floral Design
Learn basic principles of floral designs. Watch as an experienced
floral designer puts together some of today’s contemporary and unique
floral styles as well as tips for caring for flowers.

26—The Anatomy of a Room
Several elements form the building blocks of interior design. These
basic principles can be applied to any room to create a functional and
aesthetically pleasing space. After learning these basic
principles, you will be able to take the information and apply it to
your own home.

2—Indoor Air Quality Workshop
EPA estimates that the air inside buildings can be 10 to 100 times more
polluted than outdoor air. Simple techniques will be covered, i.e.: how
to identify pollutants inside the home; how to properly ventilate a
home; how to choose low-emitting building materials, paints, and
finishes; and how to maintain a clean home environment.

19—Faux Finishes and Paint Applications and Methods
Discover the different types of faux finishes and different looks,
styles and application methods. Learn tips on painting around the
house, pointers on correct type of brushes, rollers, and general
products to use on different types of applications and areas of the
house.
