2 Environmental Services employees die

Robert “Carl” Venning, an employee with MUSC’s Environmental Services since 1996, died June 3.

The relatives and friends of Venning were invited to attend his funeral services on June 10 in Mount Pleasant. Venning is survived by his wife, Naomi Swinton Venning; his son, Shawn Venning; daughter, Tameka Venning; step-son, Demond Swinton (Kendra); his siblings, Daryl Henry, Linda Venning Baldwin (Alfred), Laverne, Theresa Hollings, Kaneshia, Joan Livingston, and Veronica Edwards; and other relatives and friends.

Carl worked third shift as a team leader for Environmental Services in the main hospital. He understood the importance of what we do and never witheld any of his efforts in providing everything he could to complete the work. This man practiced leadership by example on a daily basis by personally getting involved in any task where help was needed. He also worked with a local school system and often talked about “his kids” in the schools. We will not be alone in missing  him.

Theodore  “Theo” Drayton, an MUSC employee since 1991 and most recently in the Environmental Services Department, died Monday, June 26.

Drayton is survived by his wife, Sarah Drayton; son, Quintin Drayton; mother, Thelma Drayton; brother and sisters Herbert Drayton; Ernest Drayton; Earl Drayton; Vernon Drayton; Sandra Drayton; and  Thelma Mitchell.

For funeral arrangements, friends may call Fielding Home for Funerals at 722-3348 or (800) 290-5954.

Theo has served this hospital in several roles. In Environmental Services he was a floor tech who took great pride in his work, and deservedly so. Theo came in every day ready to “fix” his area and when he left at night, it was mission accomplished. He will be remem-bered for a quick smile and his willingness to help. Theodore Drayton was a man who knew the value of a day’s work, but also the value of the work he performed. He will be missed.
