University Benefits Fair kicks off
Annual Enrollment
The
annual University Benefits Fair will kick off this year’s Annual
Enrollment from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29 at the Harper
Student Center.
University employees are invited to attend the Benefits Fair prior to
Annual Enrollment to ask questions regarding benefits and gather
information from various vendors. This year employees have the
opportunity to make changes to their benefits. The benefits consultants
will be able to process those changes on.
Employees will be able to meet with representatives from a number of
organizations including the South Carolina Retirement System, Employee
Insurance Program, Blue Choice Healthcare, CIGNA, MUSC Options, TriCare
Supplement, Social Security Administration, Money Plus, supplemental
retirement companies, and supplemental insurance companies.
In addition to these benefits employees can sign up for wholesale
memberships, check their blood pressure, calculate their BMI and more.
Door prizes will also be held.
Annual Enrollment will last from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31. During Annual
Enrollment, employees are allowed to make changes to their benefits
without providing proof of a qualifying event. These changes will
become effective Jan. 1.
Employees may make the following changes to their benefits this year:
- Employees may change from one health care plan to another.
For example, employees may change from MUSC Options to the State Health
Plan.
- Employees may enroll in or add $10,000, $20,000 or $30,000
of Optional Life insurance without medical evidence of insurability.
- Employees may enroll their spouses in or add $10,000 or
$20,000 in Dependent Life Insurance without medical evidence of
insurability.
- Employees may enroll in a Medical Spending Account and/or
Dependent Care Account for 2007. Annual re-enrollment is required for
these accounts. Employees must have one year of service by Jan. 1 to
enroll in a Medical Spending Account.
University employees may visit benefits consultants from Oct. 1 through
Oct. 31 in Suite 102 of Harborview Office Tower from 8 a.m. until 5:30
p.m. Monday through Friday to make changes to their benefits.
