Letters of gratitude to Dr. Ray
Greenberg, staff
I
(we) have received many letters commending MUSC faculty and staff for
outstanding patient care.
These letters, or excerpts from letters, from patients and their
families provide ample evidence of their high regard for our clinical
services. I am pleased to share some of them with you, and recognize
those who are providing skilled and compassionate care.
—MUSC President Ray Greenberg, M.D., Ph.D.
Dear Dr.
Greenberg,
I had to let you know about a positive experience I had when meeting
Dr. John Glaser of the MUSC Orthopaedic Department.
I needed the service of an orthopaedist and was referred to Dr. Glaser,
who saw me without delay. Despite there being a great number of people
in the waiting area, I was promptly taken into an examining room where
the nurse and resident performed an efficient preliminary evaluation.
Without delay, Dr. Glaser entered the room. I was impressed with his
demeanor, professionalism and knowledge in evaluating my problem and
helping in its resolution.
MUSC is such a fine institution, so full of caring and dedicated
physicians and support personnel. I hope all Charlestonians realize
what a treasure we have in our midst.
Dear Ms.
Lisa Montgomery and Sam Chaney,
Let me begin by saying I am the son and brother of physicians. My wife
was a nurse as is her sister. Her mother and two aunts were nurses. I
have been around medical care all my life and I know what
compassionate, caring, professional medical care looks like. That is
exactly what I experienced during my wife's final days.
I could not have asked for any better care for my wife or any
more compassionate care for me and my family during those difficult
days. The nurses and doctors were outstanding in every way. The
receptionist in the waiting room of the Neurosurgical ICU was helpful
and courteous to us all.
Dear
Susan Riddle,
Thank you for the care and compassion you extended to me during my stay
at the sleep lab. You went to great lengths to explain what was
happening to me. My beloved cats never told me I snored, so I never
knew it. I am now able to sleep better at night and feel much more
rested.
Dear Dr.
Greenberg,
I am writing to you to express not only my gratitude for the medical
care provided to my wife but also to bring to your attention the
extraordinary efforts employed by the Pulmonary and Critical Care
Division.
During the past two years my wife has suffered through an astounding
array of misdiagnosis and futile treatment plans. She was eventually
diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (Lupus). Eventually she was
referred to Dr. Steven Sahn. Dr. Sahn listened to my wife and reacted
with care, compassion and concern to all she had to say. He then set in
motion a plan of investigation that concentrated on the observable
facts rather than on exotic theories of injury. Dr. J. Terrill Huggins
led the efforts of providing a diagnosis thoracentesis, which also
provided immense therapeutic relief to my wife.
Dear Dr.
Greenberg,
I am very proud to write this letter and detail the exceptional care
received by my husband during his hospital stay. Dr. Benjamin Clyburn
worked my husband into his busy clinic schedule and worked tiredlessly
to ascertain the etiology of his condition. My husband is quite young
and we were shocked to learn he had a large cell carcinoma. Prior to
giving us the news, Dr. Clyburn had already contacted the specialists
who would be eventually caring for my husband.
The reason for the letter is because I have not gotten the chance to
express my appreciation for all he has done for us. Perhaps you can
tell him for us.
Dear Dr.
Ray Greenberg,
This past Saturday my wife experienced some chest pain to the extent
that I took her to the emergency room at MUSC. Upon arrival, she was
immediately taken to the ER where nurses (Jodi and Bobbi) quickly did
an EKG and bloodwork. They were friendly, personable, warm, informative
and it was obvious they enjoyed their roles in the ER. Too often ER
visits can be difficult, however, you should be very proud of how your
ER team handled our visit.
Dear Ray
Greenberg,
My husband was under the care of your Joint Replacement Unit (2E) a few
months ago. This was a difficult time for our family since my husband
not only had bilateral knee replacement, but also a heart attack and
internal bleeding.
Everyone on the unit was kind and professional; however, Christine
Walker (Therapeutic Services/Joint Replacement Unit) is extraordinary.
Her compassion far exceeds her job description.
