Hit me with your best shot
More than
3,000 seasonal flu vaccine doses were administered Oct. 16 to employees
of MUSC, MUHA, UMA, Crothall and Sodexho at various locations across
campus.
Registered nurse
Rebecca Bowman gives Dr. Makio Ogawa of the Department of Pathology his
annual flu shot.
The first day of the free influenza vaccination campaign, which ends
Nov. 28, included a two-day mass inoculation drill coordinated with
MUSC’s Clinical Preparedness Department (CPD).
CPD provided one of its disaster tents in front of the Education
Center/Library Building where 1,369 flu vaccine shots were administered
on Tuesday. On the first day, 66 shots were administered at Employee
Health; 80 shots were given at the Rutledge Tower Connector location;
135 shots were administered at Harborview; and at IOP, 93 more shots
were administered to employees. Additionally, for the first
time, nurse managers pitched in by picking up 1,280 doses to administer
to their departments’ staffs.
Doctors, nurses,
students of nursing and medicine, their instructors, and infection
control practitioners pitch in to help during the 13-hour mass
inoculation Oct. 16. Volunteers came from MUSC, MUHA, CMH, and many
others helped with paperwork.
