Meet...Ashley
Name:
Ashley Rae Watamura.
College:
College of Health Professions, Physical Therapy.
Hometown: I was born in New
Port Beach, Calif., and raised in Lancaster, Pa., and Honolulu, Hawaii.
What attracted you to MUSC: I
was a member of AmeriCorps in Charleston and I fell in love with the
area.
What did you want to be when you were
a child: A neurosurgeon.
Things you do in your spare time: I
am the assistant basketball coach for Ashley Hall’s varsity team. I
also like to volunteer, especially for Charleston Area Therapeutic
Riding. I play all the intramural sports, too. I want to encourage
everyone to come to the ALS race in June to help support research for
Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Ingredient you must have in your
refrigerator: I love to cook when I have time, so milk and
butter seem to come into play a lot.
Something important life has taught
you: Your life is only as good as you make it and, the more
importance you put on the lives of others, the better your own life
will be.
Favorite Charleston landmark: Market
Street early in the morning.
Something your parents always told
you: “Clean your room!”
Person you admire the most and why: My
dad, because he always made sure I understood why, and he never said
,“Because I said so,” and was always a great example of how I should be.
Toughest challenge you have had to
face this year: My grandmother passed away. She was the
glue in my family and a wonderful, loving woman. She will always be a
part of my life.
