MUSC doctors listed among best

Two hundred twenty-five physicians on  faculty and their affiliates were listed among the Best Doctors in America: 2005-2006 Edition. The current listing is the result of the 10th survey undertaken by Woodward/White Inc., the preeminent provider of information about the best medical care available.

To compile the current database, more than 30,000 doctors throughout the United States were asked to rate the clinical abilities of other doctors in their areas of specialization. Only those physicians who earned the consensus support of their peers were included, and listings cannot be bought. For this reason, inclusion in Best Doctors is considered a singular honor.

Best Doctors is an international company serving hundreds of insurers, employers and health plans covering more than 10 million people in 30 countries. It has pioneered a worldwide database of 50,000 top medical specialists in more than 400 subspecialties.

The premise behind this database of experts stems from the idea that members and treating doctors can consult with some of the world’s top specialists for their condition; doctors who have a “unique, ‘inside’ perspective about who’s at the top of their profession, who’s up on the latest advances in their field, and therefore, where they personally would turn for state-of-the-art care when faced with a serious medical problem.”

Best Doctors operates with the belief that “the best way to save money and save lives is to get it right the first time.”
