Southern conference for women to be
held
The
MUSC Women’s Scholars Initiative program invites all women faculty
to participate in the 2007 Southern Regional Professional Development
Conference for Women in Medicine and Research, March 30 to April 1, at
the J.W. Marriott Hotel in Houston.
The conference entitled, “Take Charge of Your Life: Speak Up, Stand
Out, and Stay Calm,” was created by Southern Regional Faculty
Development Programs and is designed for women faculty, residents,
postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students with an interest in
building or strengthening their management leadership skills. The
event features authors Harriet Lerner, Ph.D., and Brent Bost, M.D.
Lerner is the author of The Dance of Connection and The Dance of
Intimacy. Bost wrote the book, The Hurried Woman Syndrome.
Lerner will open the conference with her keynote address, “Voice
Lessons: A Blueprint for Clarity and Courage in Difficult
Conversations.”
This is an opportunity for women in academic medicine to network and
share their expertise with other professionals. The program will
feature sessions for senior, mid-level and junior-level women faculty.
The conference is designed to promote the retention and advancement of
women faculty as they face the challenges of changing academic
environment.
Register for the conference at http://www.mdanderson.org/prof_education/cmecs/display.cfm?id=64d8a5ae-6a7f.
