Radiology, medicine professor listed
as top cardiac imaging specialists
Joseph
Schoepf, M.D., CT Research and Development director, will be
listed as one of the world's top 10 cardiac imaging specialists in the
field in the April issue of “Medical Imaging.” It is the second time
Schoepf has been ranked in the top 10 by “Medical Imaging.”
“Again, I'm deeply honored to have my humble contributions to the field
so graciously acknowledged by the vast readership of ‘Medical
Imaging,’” said Schoepf, who also is co-director of MUSC's Center for
Advanced Imaging Research. “It is a very pleasant surprise for me to
see how much my work is noticed in the medical imaging community. Of
course, this will entice me to continue my quest to provide the best
possible service to my patients and serve as a source of information
and education for people interested in and involved with cardiovascular
imaging.”
Schoepf said it was his goal to foster and develop the field of
cardiovascular imaging at MUSC to the highest possible level of
excellence, and was proud and excited with the help and support he has
received in reaching that goal.
“The entire enterprise is pulling together to make cardiovascular
imaging an interdisciplinary showcase of our institution's excellence
on a national and international level,” he said. “This year we will be
moving our cardiovascular imaging enterprise into a brand new
state-of-the-art facility, which will provide the utmost in
comprehensive, interdisciplinary cardiovascular care for our patients.
This facility will be complete with cutting edge equipment including
cardiovascular MRI, nuclear medicine and computed tomography scanning
facilities in immediate vicinity to cardiology clinics, the acute chest
pain unit and cardiothoracic surgery suites. Of course, I will continue
my efforts to further the cause of cardiovascular imaging as a
caregiver, researcher and educator with all my strength and honors and
acknowledgments such as the one now bestowed on me by the readers of
‘Medical Imaging.’”
