University CATTS training required
by Mike
Wheeler and Reece Smith
University
Compliance Office
The deans' and president’s councils approved an initiative to
standardize compliance training throughout MUSC. Approval was given for
the mandatory use of CATTS (Computerized Annual Training and Tracking
System) to conduct annual University compliance training. CATTS is an
easy to use, Web-based software program.
Basically, all faculty and staff will use CATTS to complete the
following compliance courses on an annual basis:
- 2007 HIPAA and Information Security
- Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment
MUSC University faculty and staff will use CATTS to complete the above
listed courses prior to June 30 and annually thereafter. All faculty
and staff will receive instructions on the use of CATTS from
departmental compliance managers.
The University is accepting credit for completing this training
employees or agents of University Medical Associates (UMA) or the
Medical Center (MUHA). Again, if these courses were completed as
required by UMA or MUHA, they do not need to be completed a second time
during the same year. UMA and MUHA will be responsible to ensure
employees and agents complete required compliance training.
Employees with limited or no regular access to a computer during their
normal work schedule should be provided with access to a computer
during work hours to complete the training modules. Several computers
will be made available to employees for this purpose at the
University’s Human Resource Employment Office, Suite 104, Harborview
Office Tower.
In summary, University compliance training: will be accomplished via
the use of CATTS; University faculty and staff will complete required
training by June 30; individuals receiving training via MUHA or UMA
will receive credit for training through that entity and do not need to
receive training twice; and individuals who do not have regular access
to a computer can use computers at University Human Resources.
