Meet...Raquel
Name:
Raquel Anderson.
Department: Institute of
Psychiatry, Community and Professional Education, Community Relations
Coordinator, in the “little yellow house” at 51 Bee St.
How
long at MUSC: 7 weeks.
Person you would like to meet: Jesus.
He changed the entire world, past and present.
Coffee or tea: Tea, raspberry or
green. I gave up coffee. It was a traumatic experience.
Community service: Mental
health and physical health advocate for many years. I travel across the
state conducting conferences and workshops that promote both.
Least favorite chore: A toss
between scrubbing baseboards and cleaning ceiling fans. You can hardly
get the dirt off base boards but dust goes everywhere when you wipe a
ceiling fan blade.
Fondest childhood memory: My
mother and I dressed up like rock stars. Spiked hair included. We went
to the mall and people asked for our autographs. I don’t know who they
thought we were.
What led you to choose your career:
The opportunity to produce positive outcomes in our community regarding
mental health and a passion for marketing.
Favorite local restaurant: The
Charleston Bistro. Tell them I sent you and get $1 off your
entrée—seriously!
Most rewarding thing about
your job: Knowing that
my team’s marketing efforts along with IOP’s services improves the
quality of life for many.
