Meet...Ginny
Name: Ginny Leppard Watson.
Department:
Volunteer Services, fourth floor surgery/ICU lobby information desk.
How long at MUSC: Since
February, 2006.
Why you became an MUSC volunteer: In
memory of the dedicated medical staff during my father's extensive
hospitalizations with heart problems and then cancer; my brother, who
is a cardiovascular surgeon (I admire how he continues to save or to
improve the quality of life for patients); and my husband, who inspired
me to seek relief from his retirement at the end of 2005.
Three words that describe you:
Workaholic, loyal and creative.
Proudest accomplishment: Being a
full-time, very involved mom for my three sons.
Community service: Founded and
operated the Tri-county chapter of CHADD (Children and Adults
with Attention Deficit Disorder) from 1993-98, and have served on
several mental health boards.
Most unforgettable moments:
Best—flying (with a night landing) in the cockpit of a C-17;
Worst—almost crashing in the small airplane my husband was piloting at
night during a violent hail storm while flying from Colorado back to
South Carolina.
Last book read: “Break No Bones”
by Kathy Reichs (a personal friend).
Pet peeve: Inconsiderate people.
Something you tried and will never try
again: Snow-skiing down a mountain during white-out conditions.
First thing you notice about
people: If they have a
sense of humor.
