Smith explained the new turnover goal excludes retirement and
termination for cause. Also, the new mortality index goal is based upon
University HealthSystem Consortium’s revised risk adjusted model.
A summary of the town hall meeting evaluations completed by attendees
will be included in an upcoming Currents newsletter once the
information is tabulated and will be posted on the MUSC Excellence Web
site (http://mcintranet.musc.edu/muscexcellence/index.htm).
A video of one of the town hall sessions will also be posted on the
MUSC Excellence Web site soon.
As discussed during the meetings, a second annual Employee Perspectives
survey will be conducted Aug. 13 - Aug. 27. The center will again use
Press Ganey to conduct the survey. Responses are anonymous. All medical
center employees are strongly encouraged to participate. The results
will be communicated and used to measure progress with employee
satisfaction and to develop new action plans.
Service pillar: Serving the
public with compassion, respect and excellence
August Standard of
Behavior—Respect
Keep all interactions positive by not engaging in negative behaviors
such as gossiping, back-stabbing, nonverbal negative insinuations,
undermining, withholding, infighting, and arrogance. Discuss internal
issues only with those who need to know.
The employee standard of behavior, sponsored by Pastoral Care Services,
reminds employees to treat others as they would like to be treated.
People pillar: Fostering
employee pride and loyalty
August Employee Benefit of
the Month—South Carolina Retirement System
A defined benefit plan, also called the traditional plan. When an
employee retires, the annuity will be paid to the employee monthly, and
will depend on the average final compensation and years of service.
