Conference to focus on quality,
collaboration slated for Sept. 13
The
Health Administration and Policy Conference, “Bridging the Great
Divide: developing and implementing strategies for collaboration and
quality in a time of uncertainty,” will be held Sept. 13-15 at The
Citadel’s Holliday Alumni Center.
This is a time of exponential growth in health care expenditures and
costs, numbers of uninsured and underinsured persons, technology
accompanied by a reduction in access to health care, patient errors and
health care professionals becoming burned out and leaving their
professions. Litigation and the fear of litigation have never been so
high, and malpractice threats are cited by physicians as a major
stressor in their lives. The tension among patients, providers and
managers, and between practitioners and regulators, has never been
greater.
The conference will focus on strategies to resolve conflicts among
patients, providers and administrators. Erie Chapman, author of Radical
Loving Care and Sacred Work, will serve as keynote speaker. His work as
a hospital leader, and now foundation director, focuses on improving a
caring relationship among all who work in health care, with each other
and with patients and families.
Practitioners, students, alumni and health leaders are invited.
