The
MUSC Foundation has established a new fund to provide financial
assistance to those employees most severely affected by the recently
announced furlough.
The fund will consist entirely of private donations from staff,
faculty, administrators, volunteer board members and others. The amount
of relief available to each eligible employee will depend on the amount
of money contributed to the fund. MUSC President Ray Greenberg, M.D.,
Ph.D., and wife, Leah, made the first donation, followed by employees
at all levels.
“Many of us view the MUSC family as just that—a family. Our thoughts
and prayers are with those whose financial well-being is threatened by
the current situation,” said Jim Fisher, vice president for
development.
“We’re encouraging people to make a gift before year-end so that we can
help brighten the holidays for these folks and offer them some measure
of financial relief during the months ahead,” he said.
To make a tax-deductible gift to the MUSC Furlough Relief Fund, mail
your check to the MUSC Foundation at 18 Bee Street, MSC 180,
Charleston, SC, 29425. Checks should be made payable to the MUSC
Foundation. Or you may make your gift online at http://www.musc.edu./giving.
