Meet...April

Name: April Taylor.

Department: MUSC Wellness Center/Human Performance Lab.

How long have you worked at MUSC: A little more than two months (since Sept. 15).

Most challenging aspect of your job: Helping people that may not be fully committed to a lifestyle change.

First job: Keyboard player and back-up singer in a country band.

Pet peeve: Entitlement mentality and dishonesty.

Car that fits your personality: Scion TC or Jeep.

Unforgettable moment in your life: Getting to see Rent on Broadway before it closed.

Someone famous you would like to meet: Cher. I’ve seen her four times in concert.

Toughest challenge you have had to face this year: Illness of loved ones.

Something people don’t know about you: I’m an avid photographer. I do portraits, nature scenes and artistic shots. I’m also a musician, but my job at MUSC is my “real” job.

Favorite exercise: Push-ups. They’re the perfect upper body exercise.

Funniest training moment: I had just graduated from college and worked at a senior facility conducting fitness assessments. I was assigned to take the body fat measurements of one elderly male patient when he “flashed” me. It was funny, because my co-workers knew about this patient and what he would do. They set me up for it.
