Purchase a brick to honor a loved one
As part of
its recent expansion, Hollings Cancer Center has completed the Edwin
and Barbara Pearlstine Healing Garden. The garden is designed to be a
quiet and soothing place where patients and families can relax and
reflect, away from the sometimes stressful environment associated with
clinical care. Designed by Robert C. Chesnut, the garden will embody
the peace and compassion that is so important to patients struggling
with this disease.
The staff of Hollings Cancer Center is offering visitors and MUSC
employees an opportunity to buy a special engraved brick for the
walkway of the healing garden.
“Purchasing a brick for the walkway is a wonderful way to honor a
cancer patient or loved one, a physician or nurse, or even in lieu of
gifts for important occasions,” said Andrew S. Kraft, M.D., director,
Hollings Cancer Center.
Each standard brick is 6 x 9 inches and will have three lines with up
to 14 characters per line for engraving where you can place your name,
the name of a loved one, or a special remembrance. The cost of each
brick is $500 and can be made in payments.
“There is no finer or more meaningful gift than one that offers health
and hope to others,” Kraft said. “A purchase of a brick will make a
measurable difference in more ways and touch more lives than you can
imagine.”
A brick may be purchased in honor or memory of someone. When filling
out the form, attach the name of the person to be notified, including
relationship and address (street, city, state and ZIP code).
Paving the Way to a Cure
Please print the name or remembrance exactly as you would like it to
appear on the brick. Leave blank boxes to indicate spacing. After you
place your order, you will receive a confirmation letter.
Print clearly in the blocks below. Each standard brick is 6" x 9" with
three lines and maximum of 14 characters per line. To order more
bricks, make additional copies of this form or call 792-1140. Mail form
and payment to MUSC Foundation—HCC, 86 Jonathan Lucas St, Charleston,
SC 29425.
