HR Management to offer training courses

Accounting 101
Module 1—May 12 and June 10, Room 322, College of Nursing; and July 17, Room 403, College of Nursing.
Accounting 101 is designed to introduce administrators to ‘need to know’ information regarding these duties,  as well as, basic accounting information. Representatives from MUSC’s Finance Division will offer this training in a nine-hour certificate program that focuses on daily, monthly and year-end job responsibilities of administrative and financial support staff at MUSC.

Employment 101
May 16 and Aug. 26, Room 803, HOT
This seminar reviews applicable labor and hiring laws, interview techniques and record keeping. At the conclusion of the session, managers will be provided the tools and resources necessary to conduct interviews and make positive employment selection decisions. University managers are encouraged to attend.
 
Microsoft Excel Basics
Aug. 14, Room 405, HOT
This course is for those who have little or no experience using Excel. It introduces the essential tool s necessary to create basics business worksheets that use calculations and print on a single piece of paper. Topics include the mechanics, commands and features, basic data entry, formatting basic spreadsheets, range names, split windows and freeze. Cost $50 via IIT.

Microsoft Excel Simple Formulas
April 24, Room 405, HOT
Learn to create basic formulas and use more advance functions such as date, mathematical, financial, Logical, data list functions and unusual uses for formulas and functions. Students observe demonstrations of look-up functions. Emphasis is placed on designing formulas to be linked and copied, and linking cells to other workbook pages and files. Prerequisite: Excel Basics or equivalent skills. Cost $50 via IIT.

Microsoft Access Basics
May 8, Room 405, HOT
This course introduces four basic objects needed to create and operate a simple business database system. Tables and their relationships are introduced as well as queries, forms and reports. Participants may also bring questions regarding present Access database projects currently being worked on. No prior knowledge of Access is necessary, but database experience is helpful. Cost $50 via IIT.

Microsoft Access Tables
May 15, Room 405, HOT
This course introduces the concept of the table features in Access. Topics include crating and editing tables and advance table concept. Cost $50 via IIT.

Understanding Compensation and Classification
10 a.m. to noon, May 13 and Sept. 18, Room 803, HOT
This workshop is designed to educate Hiring Managers on the classification and compensation policy. The following topics will be covered, but not limited to: Desk Audit, re-classification, salary differences, salary adjustments, promotions, and Updates. The instructor will also discuss the process for creating new positions and descriptions. Hiring managers are encouraged to attend.

Retired and Ready!
8:30 a.m. to  4:30 p.m., May 2; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 5, Room 803, HOT
This workshop is designed for employees who are starting the retirement process or in the TERI program. Our knowledgeable representatives will help you tie all of your benefits together and answer any questions that you have. We will have representatives from the SC Retirement System, SC Employee Insurance Program, SC Deferred Compensation Program, Social Security Administration and a financial planning company.
 
University Purchasing Card—The Pcard Refresher Course
9 to 11 a.m., May 14 and Oct. 15, Room 408, HOT
Are you using the university purchasing card correctly? During this workshop, you will discover everything you need to know to make authorized purchases with the MUSC University Purchasing Card.
