Open enrollment for parking continues
The
MUSC Bee Street garage is scheduled to open in mid-October. In
anticipation of that event, the MUSC Office of Parking Management (OPM)
is scheduling an open-enrollment period for all employees who are or
who may be interested in obtaining a parking assignment in this new
facility.
The contract date for substantial completion of the garage is Oct. 23.
If that occupancy date should change, everyone would be notified as far
in advance as possible. The rates for the new garage will be the same
as for all other on-campus locations. The schedule is as follows:
May 1 - May 31: Open
enrollment for parking assignment to Bee Street garage
During this period, employees may indicate their interest in receiving
a parking assignment in this facility by going to http://appserve.musc.edu/BeeStreetRegistration,
and following the prompts. All entries during the enrollment period
must be made online. No online applications will be accepted prior
after May 31.
The names of employees who come on board following May 31, and current
employees who do not register during open enrollment, will be added to
the assignment list effective with the date they sign up for it with
OPM.
The names of employees who enroll during the open enrollment period
will be organized in two categories—faculty and classified
employees—and will be prioritized in each list by hire date. Hire dates
will be obtained electronically from human resources databases.
Assignments will be offered between the two lists in alternating
fashion as prescribed by MUSC parking assignment policy.
If a hire date appears to be incorrect, the employee should contact the
Office of Parking Management by phone or send an e-mail to Debby
Humbert at humbertd@musc.edu with the correct date. All dates will be
verified with human resources and entered into the parking database no
later than June 1.
June 1 - June 30: Record
review
During this time employees may check online to see that they are
included in the list and that their hire dates are correct. If
corrections are needed, they should be made during this period.
July 1 - July 31:
Notification, acceptance
Notification of assignment opport-unity will be e-mailed by OPM to
employees. If an employee does not respond to the first e-mail, OPM
will send a second e-mail. Failure by employees to respond would be
considered a declination, and therefore will warrant removal from the
enrollment list.
Beginning Aug. 1:
Registration, issuance of parking authorization and information
OPM will issue decals and make necessary changes to the records of
employees who will be assigned to the Bee Street garage.
The assignment process for employees who will be transferring from one
MUSC parking location to another can, in most cases, be handled without
the employee having to come to the parking office. Parking decals and
parking information will be mailed to the home addresses of employees
who have accepted an assignment offer. The employee’s MUSC ID will
serve as the Bee Street garage access card. Access privileges will be
activated automatically.
It will be necessary for employees who accept an assignment, but who do
not park in the MUSC parking system, to come to the parking office to
register and make payment arrangements.
