Stress reduction retreat slated for
May 16
Take one day
from your busy professional schedule to make peace and quiet your top
priority. Learn to practice mindfulness meditation in a natural setting
with colleagues who understand the stresses of your work world. Apply
simple awareness techniques to daily activities such as sitting,
walking and eating. Discuss strategies for integrating mindfulness into
your daily routine, and develop a personalized plan for reaching your
stress management goals. Mindfulness-based stress reduction is a
program of mind-body exercise, which has been found to relieve a wide
variety of physical and emotional symptoms related to stress.
Join MUSC psychiatric consultation liaison nurse Ramita Bonadonna,
Ph.D., at the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction: Retreats for Health
Care Professionals May 16 at the MUHA Warehouse Conference Center
located at 230 Albemarle Road, Charleston.
The fee for MUSC employees and students is $25. Nurses and social
workers may be eligible for continuing education hours.
The course will award 5.5 contact continuing education hours for nurses
by the Center for Professional Development of MUHA and is an approved
provider of continuing nursing education by the South Carolina Nurses
Association.
There will also be five contact continuing education hours for social
workers by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners.
