F&A announces
Employees of the Month
The
University’s Finance & Administration division celebrated
April’s Employees of the Month at its monthly event May 21.
Employees of the Month are selected by the Rewards & Recognition
Committee (RRC) from a list of all F&A Applause Award nominations
for the month.
Each month, F&A honors employees from the Engineering &
Facilities, Finance and Operations departments who were nominated for
Applause awards for their commitment to excellent service.
Employees of the Month for
April
- Mike Campbell, Engineering & Facilities (Engineering
& Facilities). Summary of the nomination: “On April 19, Mike was in
the Ashley Rutledge parking garage and came across a patient (an older
woman) who was having some car troubles. She was hopelessly trying to
jump start her car. Mike, a natural mechanic (Mike builds race cars as
a hobby), went to work helping her out. It ended up that her starter
had locked up, and he unlocked it with a couple taps of a hammer. This
is a direct example of MUSC Excellence.”
- Rodney Hamilton, Mail Services (Operations). Summary of the
nomination: “Rodney demonstrates extraordinary professionalism,
ability, and an in depth knowledge, keeping the MUSC Mail Service
Center operating at high levels of customer satisfaction. His honesty,
integrity and excellent blend of tact and direct supervision are
characteristics that make him a valued member of the F&A team. As
many of the medical center departments transition to new locations
across the university, Rodney is relied upon to track their moving
status and coordinate closely to ensure that campus and USPS mail
services would be delivered promptly. He makes it his business to find
out the needs of department or staff members and goes above and
beyond to make sure customers are satisfied. Recently, Rodney developed
a mail distribution process for Ashley River Tower. Rodney conducted a
site survey to define specific needs in establishing a mail center at
ART. When asked if he could establish mail center operations at ART,
Rodney’s response was “Yes I can!”
- Cathy Carroll, Grants & Contracts Accounting (Finance).
Summary of the nomination: “Cathy Carroll's customer service is
outstanding. Her customers say it best in the following statement. ‘It
is difficult to find the right words to describe the positive impact an
individual has on others. I hope that this attempt to recognize Cathy
for her outstanding customer service provided to the Clinical
Effectiveness and Patient Safety Center provides her rewards above her
expectation. As a new business manager to MUSC and the state, the
learning curve has been steep and at times difficult until Cathy very
willingly stepped in and provided her expertise. In my many years of
experience in working with other universities and financial
institutions, I have not encountered such a wonderful spirit of service
and true diligence in customer satisfaction wrapped in one
individual.’”
All Applause nominees for the month were presented with an MUSC
