MUSC Excellence at the university

F&A announces Employees of the Month

The university’s Finance & Administration (F&A) Division celebrated May's Employees of the Month at its monthly event June 18.

Employees of the Month are selected by the Rewards & Recognition Committee (RRC) from a list of all F&A Applause Award nominations for the month. Each month, the F&A division honors employees from the Engineering & Facilities, Finance, and Operations departments who were nominated for Applause awards for their commitment to excellent service.

Employees of the Month for May
  • DeOnatrae Brown and Dwight Hudson, Electric Shop (Engineering & Facilities). Summary of the nomination: “DeOnatrae and Dwight went above and beyond their duties in installing emergency outlets in our nursery and emergency power for our breast milk refrigerator, medicine refrigerator, and pixis machine. These gentlemen were friendly and hard working in our nursery all day long. They were respectful of the staff’s needs and went out of their way to do extra work in the nursery. I enjoyed having them in our nursery and know that their work was exceptional.” Employees of the Month for May DeOnatrae Brown and Dwight Hudson along with Engineering & Facilities chief facility officer John Malmrose.
  • Edwin “Butch” O’Brien and Francina Dantzler, Parking Management (Operations). Summary of the nomination: “I just wanted to take a minute to recognize Butch O’Brien and Francina Dantzler of Parking Management. This morning there was a near disaster in the trauma lot. A crane dropped some material it was lifting and almost hit a hospital security employee who was in the lot. After this happened, Butch and Francina began to restrict access to the area. Butch closed the pedestrian area between the hospital and trauma and Francina began restricting the trauma lot to emergency vehicles only. Their actions proved very beneficial in reducing the chance of an injury to a passing vehicle or pedestrian. Butch and Francina did a great job!” Francina Dantzler accepts her award from Melinda  Anderson, director of parking management, and Stewart Mixon, chief operations officer.
  • Raynard James, Purchasing Services (Finance). Summary of the nomination: “Raynard is one of those rare individuals who goes above and beyond the call every day. On more than one occasion he has helped with expediting requisitions; even when he had to go on a search to find them. He has taken the initiative to research specific needs for a purchase order and then sent the information and necessary forms so that I could go forward. He’s a true blessing. Can we clone him?” Betty Sandifer, accountant/fiscal manager, and Patrick Wamsley, chief financial officer, presents Raynard James, center, with his Employee of the Month award.
All nominees for the month are presented with an MUSC Excellence mug. Applause recipients for the month of May were LaDeidra Berry, Human Resources Management Benefits Office; DeOnatrae Brown, Engineering & Facilities Electric Shop; Francina Dantzler, Parking Management; Dwight Hudson, Engineering & Facilities Electric Shop;  Raynard James, Purchasing Services;  Edwin “Butch” O’Brien, Parking Management; John Pigott, University Transportation Services; and Nora Williams, Human Resources Management.
