Ice cream social held for 7E staff

To celebrate the recent opening of the Discharge Lounge, 7 East staff
was treated to an ice cream social on July 3.
Since it opened in April, 7 East staff sent the most guests through the
Discharge Lounge, which has served “an invaluable role in improving and
expediting the patient discharge process,” said Leslie Anne Folsom,
R.N., of the hospital’s Patient Access Services/Admit, Transfer Center
and Discharge Lounge.
The lounge, which is part of the Admit Transfer Center, is staffed
full-time with a registered nurse, and is designed to expedite the flow
of patients through the discharge process. This helps make beds more
readily available for patients awaiting placement within the hospital.
Located in the lobby of the main hospital, the lounge offers guests
recliners, full meals, snacks, and use of a wide screen TV as they
await transportation home. The lounge is open noon to 8:30 p.m.
weekdays.
Folsom said the Admit Transfer Center, the Discharge Lounge and staff
plan to recognize the efforts by more patient units in coming months
with similar staff-appreciation celebrations.
