Crab Shack gives $15,000 to Hollings
Cancer Center
With
help from their Purple Crab fundraiser and the S. C. Education Lottery,
the Charleston area Crab Shack restaurants have made a donation of
$15,000 to Hollings Cancer Center (HCC).
On July 8, Dan Doyle, president of the Crab Shack, made the decision to
support HCC’s Center for Economic Excellence (COEE) for Tobacco-Related
Malignancy, a fund which will directly support the long-term vision of
a Lung Cancer Center at HCC.
This decision was made, in part, due to a promise made by the S.C.
Education Lottery, who will match all donations made to the COEE for
Tobacco-Related Malignancy. The staff at the Crab Shack realized that
their $7,500 could turn into a $15,000 donation with help from the
state.
How you can help
When you visit any one of the five Crab Shack locations (East Bay
Street, Folly Beach, West Ashley, Coosaw Creek or Lexington) mention
the Purple Crab fundraiser to your server. One hundred percent of the
profits from your meal will be donated to HCC and in addition, you will
receive a coupon for a free crab dip on your next visit.
