MUSC Excellence at

F&A announces
Employees of the Month
The
university’s Finance & Administration (F&A) Division
celebrated Employees of the Month for June at its monthly event on July
16. Employees of the Month are selected by the Rewards &
Recognition Committee (RRC) from a list of all F&A Applause Award
nominations for the month.
Each month, the F&A Division honors employees from the Engineering
& Facilities, Finance, and Operations departments who were
nominated for Applause awards for their commitment to excellent
service.
Employees of the Month for
June
Jim Hensley, Integrated
Planning & Assessment (Engineering & Facilities)
Summary of the nomination: “This morning the Space Management Team had
its annual Space Inventory survey appointment with the Ambulatory Care
Operating Room. The department recently completed renovations to its
allocated space, which is an important aspect for us to track. While
Jim Hensley was out measuring another area on campus yesterday, he also
decided to review and measure the Ambulatory Care Operating Room space,
not knowing that I had an appointment with that department this
morning. Jim made all corrections and updated the floor plans for us to
take to our Space Survey appointment this morning. Jim’s hard work not
only impressed our point of contact with Ambulatory Care, but made it
possible for the department to standout in our preparedness and
professionalism in servicing our customers in accordance with our MUSC
Excellence Initiative Program. Jim’s dedication and strong work ethic
should be applauded a thousand times over.”
Cathy Hyatt, Business
Services (Operations)
Summary of the nomination: “Cathy Hyatt sets standards by which
Excellence is measured. She has superb working knowledge of the record
and information management systems and equipment which directly
increases the university Records Center’s ability to access agency
records quickly and efficiently. Defining actions above and beyond is
not always easy. However, when a specific action is taken by an
employee that reflects understanding of the situation and the potential
impact exhibits the characteristic or organizational ownership, that
employee should be recognized. Cathy demonstrates time-tested ability
and capacity to perform beyond the range and scope of contemporaries.
This is evident by the following customer’s e-mail: After producing
record information pursuant to a subpoena, it was brought to my
attention that a crucial piece of the medical record was (flight
records) missing and could not be located in the patient’s chart or in
the Meducare department. Cathy was notified of the situation and took
immediate action to resolve it. She located the micro fiche reel,
facilitated the prompt production of a duplicate reel, reprinted the
record for me twice, personally delivered the report to me, and even
had the film reprinted again at an offsite location in an effort to
create the highest print quality for the requestor. Cathy’s action is
an example of MUSC Excellence at work. She went above and beyond the
call of duty to provide customer satisfaction not only for me, but for
the requestor who has been left with a very positive impression of
MUSC. She has been a joy to work with and certainly is an asset to our
organization.”
Jerry Redmon, University
Purchasing Services (Finance)
Summary of the nomination: “Jerry has been exceptional in assisting and
guiding our department in the correct procedures of purchasing. He is
very informative, addresses our questions, and processes our requests
quickly and efficiently. Jerry is quite an asset to the Purchasing
Department and this university due to his knowledge and expertise. We,
therefore, would like Finance & Administration to recognize Jerry
for the valuable and hard work he has done not only for our department
but for this university.”
