Meet...Martha

Name: Martha Eden.

Department: Volunteer Services.

How long have you been at MUSC: Since the late 1970s.

What was your first job: After I graduated from high school, I went to New York where I worked in the Garment District making dresses.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job: Delivering flowers, and making others smile, who make me smile.

If you could change careers, what would you be doing: I would work for the White House, or in the Capitol; or something with Congress.

Favorite book: The Scottsboro Boys (a true story based on Depression Era trial in which nine black men were wrongfully convicted of rape).

Pet peeve: Getting the grocery cart with a wobbly wheel.

What personal goals do you have: I want to hold seminars to teach women how to buy cars so they avoid getting ripped off by the dealers. I worked for a car dealer for 17 years, and I know all of their tricks.

If you could relive any day of your life, what would it be: My wedding day; I would not have married my ex-husband.

Something people don't know about you: I am a breast cancer survivor.
