WonderWorks, Barnes & Noble team up

WonderWorks and Barnes & Noble made the down economy better for Happy Wheels, a program that provides gifts for the patients at MUSC Children’s Hospital every Thursday, alternating between toys and books for children.

Victoria Guest, left, of Happy Wheels and Rachel Williams of WonderWorks review toys headed for MUSC Children’s Hospital.

WonderWorks held a toy drive at its stores in Mount Pleasant and West Ashley, while Barnes & Noble stores in West Ashley and Mount Pleasant collected hundreds of books for the children. Happy Wheels volunteers also performed gift-wrapping duties at Barnes & Noble to raise funds for the program, which is built around a blue cart that rumbles through the corridors at the Children’s Hospital distributing free books and toys every week. All distributed items are new.

Happy Wheels is nine years old and is completely supported by volunteers and supporters in the Lowcountry and Grand Strand. For information, visit http://www.happywheels.org/.
