Psych conference slated for May 29

The 2009 Update in Psychiatry, held May 29-30 in the Institute of Psychiatry auditorium, will focus on the daily challenges of applying psychopharmacology in clinical care.

This conference brings psychiatrists, primary care physicians, psychologists, and other mental health professionals together for networking and education.   At the end of this program, participants will be able to: cite practical knowledge regarding new applications of psychotropic compounds; understand Federal Drug Administration warnings for psychopharmacological agents; understand the shared biology of affective-spectrum disorders; appreciate how anti-depressants normalize immune functions; develop practical knowledge regarding potential medical complications resulting from the use of commonly prescribed psychotropic compounds; apply practical approaches to the management of these complications; and much more.

The registration fee is $275, and includes conference materials, continuing education credit processing, and continental breakfast. Cancellations after May 22 are subject to a $30 processing fee.
