Register now for worksite screening

Health 1st's upcoming Worksite Screening will take place at the Colbert Education Center & Library on July 23.

Participating in a preventive health screening will give you and your health care provider useful information to help you determine what health habits you need to change, including the following:

  • Your cholesterol and hemoglobin levels
  • Your heart disease risk factors
  • Your BMI (body mass index)
  • Your thyroid levels
  • Your blood pressure
  • Your lab values for many other tests

All MUSC employees, their spouses and their dependents, who are 18 and older and living at home, can participate. Individuals can participate whether they are an MUSC, MUHA, UMA, or contract employee.  Valued at about $250, this screening is available to you for $15 if you are a subscriber to the State Health Plan, or $42 if you are not a subscriber.

Visit http://ceii.muschealth.com/Health1st/Worksiteschedule.aspx for more information and to register online. Registration deadline is July 20.

Physical activity: part of life

What are the reasons you give yourself for not including regular physical activity as part of your life? Some barriers can be lack of time, lack of facilities, lack of money, or  lack of motivation.

To address the barriers in your life, create a chart, listing the three main ones that block your becoming physically active. Beside each barrier, list at least one action you can take to overcome the barrier.
