Employees of the Quarter
Jonathan Davidson, Corey Washington, University Mail Services, (Operations) Jonathan Davidson, left, and Corey Washington
“The Mail Service Center was assigned to improve its mail processing
workflow and was able to obtain modular furniture from Surplus
Property. However, the workflow design and furniture set-up proved to
be a challenge. Corey Washington and Jonathan Davidson were enlisted to
help me design the layout and place the furniture, which also needed to
be assembled. Not knowing the exact nature of the job, both of them
said yes. Once the work began, it seemed that we had taken on too much
as set-up was difficult and some parts were missing. But this did not
deter them—they had taken on this responsibility and were on a
“mission.” Corey and Jonathan called around to find suitable
replacement parts. They also cleared the old furniture out of the Mail
Services Center and transported them to the North Charleston warehouse.
All of this was accomplished in addition to performing their normal
daily duties.

Dana Relyea, Grants & Contracts Accounting (Finance) Dana Relyea
“We have been trying to resolve an issue for about five years, if not
longer. I showed up to Dana’s office April 7 and presented the issue to
her. Not only did she stop what she was doing to help me, she resolved
the issue and had the report ready within four days. She also offered
to help the dean’s office with a report. They currently do the report
manually and she offered to help them set it up with a push of a
button. Dana is the example of MUSC Excellence and going above and
beyond. She has helped many departments by solving this issue for us
and has created a report that works for all across the university.
Nominated by Teri Wall, Grants Specialist, Hollings Cancer Center Clinical Trials
David Lee, HVAC Shop (Engineering & Facilities) David Lee
“I would like to recognize David Lee for his efforts in handling a
major failure with the air handler unit in the Children’s Hospital.
This outage occurred during a state holiday weekend. David was able to
timely organize the staffing resources to fully assess the extent of
the system failure and to implement an effective action plan. Due to
his leadership and staff’s loyalty, this tremendous effort was
accomplished successfully.
