2009 faculty senate election process begins Aug. 24

by Joan Cunningham, PhD (COM-Basic Sciences) and Paul Jacques, DHSc, PA-C (CHP)
Faculty Senate Governance Committee Co-chairs
Online faculty senate nominations begin Aug. 24. This is your opportunity to nominate faculty from your college to represent your views, and participate in the governance of MUSC.

Nominations will be held beginning Aug. 24 through noon, Sept. 4. Elections will be held Sept. 9 through 18.

Newly elected senators and alternates will be notified on Sept. 21, and take their seats on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

All faculty holding full-time primary appointments at MUSC with the rank of Instructor or above are eligible to serve as Faculty Senators.  This includes faculty with modifiers “research” or “clinical.” A tenure-track position is not required.

Senators are elected to a two-year term, and alternates to a one-year term.  Senators may serve three consecutive terms.

For more information, see http://www.musc.edu/facsen/ or contact your current senators (listed on this Web site) for more information. Guidelines for senators/alternates are in the bylaws and may be found online.
