Worksite screenings offered to employees
|
Health
1st is offering monthly worksite screenings that will measure
your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose, thyroid, liver and
kidney function. Even if you are in good health, you need to know
your baseline values. So often people have no idea they have high blood
pressure, high cholesterol levels, or abnormal liver or thyroid levels.
Better health habits such as becoming more active, eating more fruits
and veggies, and losing weight can reduce risk factors and lower blood
pressure without the need for medications.
Cholesterol
One out of every two men and one out of every three women will develop
heart disease sometime in their life. Whether you have heart disease or
want to prevent it, you can reduce your risk for having a heart attack
by lowering your cholesterol level. For more information, go to http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/chd/.
The worksite screening costs $15 ($300 value) if you have any of the
state health insurance plans. Participants will receive a chemistry
profile, lipid profile, hemogram, and blood pressure measurement and a
personalized written report. For a sample report, go to http://ceii.muschealth.com/Health1st/Doc/WorksiteScreeningSampleReport.pdf . The next screening will be held on the main campus Jan. 28.
