Free diabetic retinopahty screening offered

To raise awareness of preventable blindness MUSC Storm Eye Institute is offering a free diabetic retinopathy screening on Nov. 12 by appointment.

Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes and a leading cause of blindness. High blood sugar levels over time can damage the small blood vessels in your retina.

Don’t wait for symptoms – often there are none in early stages of diabetic retinopathy. (That’s why it is so important to have a dilated eye exam at least once a year.) Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent loss of vision.

To make an appointment, call MUSC Health Connections at 792-1414.
