University F & A
Employee recognized for commitment

The Finance & Administration Division celebrated its Employee Appreciation Event Nov. 17. The event recognized staff members from the Engineering & Facilities, Finance, and Operations departments who were nominated during the past quarter for their commitment to MUSC Excellence. Each quarter employees with qualifying nominations from the Employee Recognition Program during the preceding three months are recognized with an MUSC Excellence gift. All nominations must exhibit outstanding work related behavior or activities relating to the five Pillars of Excellence.

Employees of the Quarter
Mitzi Fetner, Controller’s Office/Property Control

Mitzi Fetner, center, accepts her Employee of the Quarter award from Susie Edwards, Controller’s Office, and Patrick Wamsley, chief financial officer.

Fetner’s nomination read in part: “We are nominating Mitzi Fetner, director of property control, for Employee of the Quarter for her assistance with restructuring funding for a $9.8 million grant involving the Drug Discovery and Bioengineering buildings. Mitzi spent an incredible amount of time and effort working on the restructuring and redevelopment of the grant budgets, award documentation for the state, and the actual draw request for the Federal Health Resources Services Administration office. Making sure that these administrative and financial requirements happened so that deadlines could be met is a testament to her commitment to MUSC and the Controller’s office.”

Kathleen Green, Human Resources Management
Stewart Mixon, chief operations officer, presents Kathleen Green with her Employee of the Quarter award. Also congratulating Green is Gale O’Neal, senior compensation analyst, center, Rhonda Richardson, assistant director, Human Resoures Management, and Susan Carullo, director, Human Resources Management.

Green’s nomination read in part: “Kathleen Green is such an asset to Human Resources Management (HRM), and especially to her co-workers and those she serves. She is always ready and willing to jump in and “rescue” any of us who are overwhelmed with work (even when she herself is deluged with priorities and deadlines)! A recent example is when Kathleen stepped up to help a new staff member who had an avalanche of overdue paperwork to process. Kathleen literally took all of the paperwork and processed it all, leaving the new employee with the time to attend to other matters at hand. Kathleen didn’t have to do this; she herself was extremely busy. Even so, she recognized that the new employee needed assistance, and since Kathleen was familiar with how to process the mountains of paperwork necessary for each new hire, she put her own work aside in order to help her co-worker. Kathleen’s ability to learn new things quickly and to apply the most efficient method imaginable to tasks at hand makes her an invaluable co-worker and HRM team member.”
