Champions of campus diversity


Psychiatry professor and College of Medicine senior associate dean Deborah Deas, M.D., and Medical Scientist Training Program student Ryan Rhome were the employee and student recipients of the 2010 Earl B. Higgins Leadership in Diversity Award. The  award honors were presented April 7.

Deas is senior associate dean for Strategic Diversity Initiatives in the College of Medicine and is chair of the college’s diversity committee. She has helped lead growth and diversity within the college, among medical students, resident-physicians and faculty. 
 
Rhome is in his seventh year as a M.D./Ph.D., student in the College of Graduate Studies. He was recognized for his dedication to students and diverse issues affecting campus and the  community.
