The Spa at Charleston Place, MUSC raise cancer awareness

The third annual  I Will Reflect (IWR) campaign kicks off in May.

MUSC and The Spa at Charleston Place have teamed up again for the melanoma awareness and prevention initiative. The campaign has raised more than $7,000 to support skin cancer research through MUSC Foundation.

Through September, the IWR initiative will spread the message of skin cancer prevention, providing several ways for people around Charleston to reflect.
  • Share the message of skin protection with family and friends by wearing an IWR bracelet, which glows purple when the wearer’s skin is exposed to dangerous sun rays and serves as a reminder to reflect on the need to protect skin on a daily basis. Bracelets will be sold at The Spa at Charleston Place for $3 of which 100 percent of proceeds will be donated to the MUSC Foundation, Department of Dermatology.
  • Get two IWR treatments and The Spa at Charleston Place will donate 10 percent of the cost to MUSC. These treatments combine a deep cleaning facial for $125 or body treatment for $145 with sun safety tips and sunscreen gifts.
  • MUSC student/employee will receive a 25 percent discount on IWR specialty suncare treatments.
  • Wear sunscreen year-round using a minimum of SPF 15.
  • Seek shade between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Schedule an annual full-body skin check with a dermatologist.
To learn more about the campaign, visit The Spa at Charleston Place’s Facebook fan page or call 937-8522 to schedule a treatment.
