On April 24, nurses from Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA)
and from the College of Nursing were recognized at the Palmetto Gold
Gala, South Carolina’s premier nurse recognition program of the top 100
nurses in South Carolina. Each year, employers from across South
Carolina nominate outstanding nurses from their organizations to be
recognized for this prestigious award.

Nurses recognized were Amanda Budak, Mary Fischer, Karen Rankine,

their excellence in nursing practice and commitment to the profession.
In addition to providing recognition to deserving professionals,
proceeds from the gala will be used to support nursing scholarships for
students attending South Carolina education programs.
This year, 23 students received scholarships as a result of generous
contributions to the Palmetto Gold Nurse Recognition Program. MUSC
leadership admires and applauds this year’s recipients of the 2010
